Wild and wacky snow time!

Busy with my ball time....but, this is a new one! As, we lost the other one in a snow drift last night... Oh! And, we heard some good news...the lost doggie appeared the next day! Only 8mo old, and probably spent the night in a snow cave or so. But, our hearts are so happy she was ok! Sitting for "watching" practice. I'm gettin' good at this one!
Eatin' somethin'...nibble nibble
So, this shot below is last night....many folks out in the meadow...including mom and dad and ME! And, you'll see why in a moment...it wasn't all fun and games this time...
Always gettin' a snow-bath from dad!
Here's the wierd part...the power house at Kirkwood caught on fire mid-day New Year's Day. Lifts shut down early, as there was no power and smoke smoke smoke filled the valley sky.
This is the power source for the entire area. It was a very bad fire. We stayed put, as the temperatures were lowering and the roads were very icy to drive anywhere. And, I was happy with my ball time.....
Shots from this morning. Still NO POWER to the area and a lot of generators being trucked in. I was happy to have more mom and dad and ball time...!!!
We're pretty self-contained with our rig. Here is dad a few friends hashing over the gravity of the situation this morning.
With no lifts running, and just a long line for a snow-cat ride up some of the slopes, mom, dad and I decided to do a sunny x-country ski around the meadow. We encountered lots of friendly folks and some cool looking snow pals!
Yea...found a stick too! All is ok. Power is slowly being restored to the village and area. We're happy to hang, and see what tomorrow brings.
Hugs to all my pals!!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my pals! We rolled back up to the mountains last night just as the torchlight parade started down the front slope at Kirkwood. It was amazing and beautiful.
Then the boom boom fireworks started, and I totally freaked out! Never heard such crazy noises before! Mom and dad quickly took me to the warm lodge, and we sat quietly for a while. Whew.
These are photos from this morning....we've been playing and hiking around. A pretty thick snow is falling, quite pretty.
This fella, Bogie, kept coming over to sniff me out.
And, there was another Australian shepard that everyone here has been looking for today, as it got so scared at the fireworks last night, it ran into the meadow, and has not yet been located. But, everyone is on alert and we are hopeful.
In the meantime, I'll keep doing what I love...playing in the deep soft snow.
See you again soon pals!

Real fun in that snow!

Snow time from MY POINT OF VIEW....... We hit a lot of traffic on the ride up Christmas Day. I had to be patient in my rigged fabric crate for a long time! We stopped for a little hike at Silver Lake, just 5 miles from our destination.
The light was low...it was quite pretty out. Dad found a little hill and made me chase snow balls up and down the hill....'til mom said it was getting too dark (forgot our headlamps) and needed to hike out.
A day later, there was NEW SNOW! And, with one of my Christmas present balls, we played lots of hide-the-ball-in-the-snow! We lost it a few times, but always determined to find it again, and we did.
Mom's gloves served as great hide-in-snow toy too! Sorry mom, you don't really need this do you?
I loved trying to jump up into the snow banks....wasn't always successful!
We saw lots of snow fall Saturday morning. It was pretty in the meadow.
The storm passed Sunday morning and the sun came out!
Like my snow whiskers?
Hope you had a nice holiday and weekend. Besides a few 'bungles' this holiday and on this trip, we had a really nice time. See you again soon!
