We got a LATE start last Thursday eve, and in an effort to miss all the Hwy. 80 Labor Day traffic, we ended up launching our trip at 9:30PM Thursday eve...arriving to Alder Creek at 1AM and waking up to find us surrounded by some rock star busses! :)
That's us in the middle (pic above)...small fry between the coaches!
Alder Creek Campground is a private campground in Tahoe Donner. Love this campground! Nice, quite clean and cute!
Saw some tree furries there. We spent the day in Truckee and then headed to our weekend destination of Sardine Lakes!
I was so ready for some lake swimmin'!
Hanging out at the Lower Sardine Lake boat launch.
Looking up towards the Sierra Buttes. Always stunning.
A wonderful family owned resort since 1941. Love this place, and the Sardine Lake Campground just a 5 minute walk from the lake.
Pondering.
Pondering....on our hike to Upper Sardine Lake. A bumpy fireroad hike to Upper Sardine.
Wow....only daring 4X4's make this one...but many try.
Ah! Could just stay in this spot. Upper Sardine Lake and the Sierra Buttes.
Of course! I was in the water before mom even arrived at the lake :)
Swimmin'!
Let's move on... Below...dad (right) and weekend friend, Eric, who worked at Sardine Lake Resort 35 years ago! He had so many memories.

Great pictures!!!!! We LOVE the 'pondering' picture - that is such a great profile shot! And of course, we love the swimming photos - what a fantastic place to swim! Glad you had such a wonderful weekend. The trees are starting to change colors here, and Mom and Dad are talking about us heading south in our 'rockstar bus' (heehee) in a month or two for a couple of months before we start snowshoeing!

We love seeing your happy adventures in your beautiful state Sierra!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe had to laugh at your small fry comment about your RV. We travel in a mid-size RV which is perfect for our favorite haunts - state parks. But we went to the Siberian Specialty last year and parked with all of the other RV's in a large converted parking lot. Beside those massive coaches and fluffy show dogs, we were feeling just a little inadequate.
You must have been one heck of a tired pup!
