Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Saturday started with lots of backyard hang-time and much needed relaxing. A short afternoon drive found us here...the base of Big Rock Ridge.
Greeted by new wildflowers, we followed the Loma Alta Fireroad.
This year is not predicted to be a big wildflower season here, but it's early yet...
Patches of serpentine rich soil, as found on Ring Mountain Open Space, makes for a variety of interesting blooms.
How beautiful! It looks like you had a great walk!!
ReplyDeleteGreat hike! Luv the photo of you quenching your thirst Sierra Rose :) Mom really appreciated the California Poppies. They are her all time favorite wild flowers :D
ReplyDeleteWaggin at ya,
Roo
What a great hike! Lovely flowers, beautiful hills & gorgeous scenery!
ReplyDeleteI would love to play with you amongst the flowers in those hills. Imagine your very own California poppy fields...we have to plant them here to enjoy. Looking frwd to "up the hill"...Cheers!
ReplyDeleteMy word that year has gone quickly, there are the poppies again. Always great to follow you on your walks :-)xxx lots of luv Amie Soto Blossom.
ReplyDeleteYippee - I love the poppies! I checked out the fire road link, too. I see that the hike made the Gal thirsty!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm amazed at the change in climate from last week. Was that snow last week? Now, mom's in shorts hiking? Those fireroads make great trails. Beautiful wide open spaces. I can tell Sierra was relishing that water---head leaned back and eyes closed :O)
ReplyDeleteThank's for taking me on this hike Sierra Rose. Since it will be a long time before I can get back into my summer home in the Sierra maybe I should go play in your backyard.
ReplyDeleteI once had a hiking companion that looked a lot like you.
Ooooh! We are super humongously jealous! Our backyard is a combination of very mushy snow and muck. Our real hiking trails are equally mushy/muddy and our Dad is having neck issues (he broke his neck about 8 years ago, and even after surgery it bothers him from time-to-time) so even our backup (i.e. multi-use) trail is out of play (for now). So we've been walking a lot in the neighborhood, and saying hi to all the doggies we haven't seen all winter! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a beautiful hike!

It always does my heart good to visit your blog and see the beautiful California landscape...not to mention Sierra Rose.
ReplyDeleteYou and your humans must be in such great shape with all the hiking you do. Another beautiful place, such pretty flowers too. We think you live in one of the prettiest places in the country.

ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,

Beautiful hike, Sierra Rose!
ReplyDeleteMy mom loves CA Poppies too, her favorites!
We're up in the Sierra Foothills visiting Grandma and Grandpa. Snow has been replaced with so much green and wild flowers! High peaks still have snow though! Very nice change after 3 1/2 months in the desert!
Your golden buddy,
Raider
Hiya! Stopped by again, cause I thought you'd maybe gone again yesterday? This is really weird!!! Can't believe my comment isn't here, even tho I wrote one - maybe I forgot to scroll to put in the "secret word!" At any rate, I loved the pics here - you sure know your wildflowers, Sierra! And you look so pretty against those gorgeous view backgrounds! Will have to check out that trail - it is just lovely! (And love that photo of you on the deck with that red ball!)

ReplyDeleteLove your pics, Sierra Rose. FYI, a golden puppy, Finn, has a new blog, finnhoward.blogspot and his mom would love some advice on those irksome but adorable puppy antics. I can see this is a seasoned group of golden owners, so please pop over to his blog, he's really cute!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a perfect way to spend a Saturday! AS far as beauty, there's no season prettier in TX than spring. There are wildflowers blooming all over the place and it makes for great driving (most of the blooms are on highway shoulders).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! What a great hike!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the munching tips - Finn loves her bully sticks too.
