Little foggy outing!

Saturday afternoon mom and dad packed the van...roadtrip? Bikes, gear, lots of stuff! We all piled in and headed south...I kept hearing them say "fog?"..."maybe go to the lake?"..."check around the next corner"..."mabye it will clear"..."let's see how parking is..."
We cruised easily to Fort Baker, all the while big fingers of fog headed into the Bay. Parking was easy, an easy walk.... Had to greet a few folks along the way.
Mmmmm...there's the bridge...well, sort of. Fog flowing in fast. But everyone was hopeful! Will they, won't the?
Hey! Isn't that Fat Albert? Prelude to the Blue Angels? Lots of cheering going on!
I had a great spot with dad. But, wow! What a wind! My ears didn't want to flap down in those gusts!
I'll just stay low.....
A bit hazy looking towards downtown San Francisco. We saw a lot of sailboats, motorboats, pelicans.....mom looked for seals, but didn't see any...(or didn't want to get to close to the edge to look)
There was much anticipation on the bluff we were on, with lots of other folks snuggled under blankets, in lounge chairs, looking pretty snuggly.
Oh! Something in the distance? Birdies? Hmmmmmm... They disappeared.
Woah!!! Wow! Certainly was not expecting that ROAR out of no where! And, lots of cheers around me. And off they went.....
And, after that first pass-over, they got smaller and smaller....then were gone! Fog had cancelled the show!
Dad was sad, but hugged me for warmth and said "oh that fog!"
As we turned to go, there it was..... And later, the paper said ""San Francisco's famous - and fickle - fingers of fog snatched the mighty Blue Angels from the skies"" We were all sad to miss this spectacular skilled feat, but definitely understood SAFETY!!!!
Weren't able to go today, but we think the Blue Angels were able to do some low flying maneuvers. Still foggy. Met a few furry pals on my way out. We shared some secrets about stuff. Can't tell you what the secrets were....but, good stuff!
Bye bye bridge and foggy fog!
See ya again soon!

  3. Hi Sierra! How amazing that we went to see the same show! Except, YOU got to go and I'm so jealous! Wasn't the bay beautiful, despite the cancellation? I know the fog stopped those amazing jets from doing their thing, but it sure looks like you had an awfully great time! Woohoo!

  4. Oh Miss Sierra Rose, you certainly are growing up into a well rounded, well traveled and well spoken young dog! Our momma would have loved to be with you and your momma and dadda over there in that San Francisco place - even with the fog!

The Blue Angels come up here to Michigan just about ever summer to Traverse City, Michigan, for the Cherry Festival which celebrates the noble cherry for two, whole weeks every summer. We don't like those cherries and our cats only chase them but our momma, she is a cherry eatin' gal!

  5. Nothing better than quality time with Dad, huh? (Except for maybe being a footwarmer - which is a much appreciated task, I have noticed!) And how cool that you got to share secrets - because a secret is only fun if you can share it! Looks like you had a great weekend!

  7. Hi Sierra Rose,

What a nice outing you had. The last time my mommy saw the Blue Angels was while she was in San Franciso a few years ago and it was on Oct. 12th. They're wonderful!

Glad you had such a great day.

    Luv,
    Riley and Star.

  8. Hey Sierra,
Our dad used to fly Navy jets out of NAS Alameda and he say's he's pretty familiar with the fog. All of the pilots had callsigns that started with "Foggy." Our dad was Foggy55. The Commanding Officer was Foggy11 and the Executive Officer was Foggy22. He said the fog was so weird that sometimes Alamed had fog and both OAK and SFO would be clear. They's take off if Alameda was foggy as long as Moffett Field (which was still open then) was clear. Dad has lots of GReat videos of flying around the Bay area and up to Point Arena Lighthouse.

  16. That is really too bad about the show being cancelled but for a good reason - safety must come first. But it still looks like you had a fun day out with the pawrents. You always have such great adventures and we love reading about them.

  19. Well, it looked like a great day out, even if the show was cancelled. Fab scenery. Your Blue Angels must be something like our Red Arrows, I think. Always spectacular to watch. Pretty loud though, maybe you should take ear plugs if you get the chance to see them again!
