Hey! Where'd you go!?!?!

What? Huh? Hmmmmm.....Well, turns out, mom had something planned that didn't include me this weekend! Harumph! She went somewhere near here.....While I was at home doing this.....
And, some of THIS! My 'what was that?' look...
Mom was at a place called the Lost Trail Lodge...out of Truckee, CA....a back country, off-grid lodge in Coldstream Canyon. They had to ski in, and gear transported by snowcat and snowmobile.
Mom skiing out Sunday....on her way HOME!
Saturday.
Local resident, OPPIE!! This high country pal, has had 2 knee replacements! And, apparently, never gets older than about 7 years old....(so the owner of the lodge says)
And, I was back at home with this visitor, Oliver....actually a female...(has laid a few eggs).
And Mom was here...bluegrass band, ice climbing, snow skiing...can't I go!?
Every year, mom does a winter trip with the American Alpine Club. She has a fantastic time, but left me at home! What? Huh?
All's ok now...spending Sunday eve with mom and dad.
And, for some inspiring fun times...visit my pal Golden Samantha www.sammiegolden.blogspot.com. We've been meetin' up to spot the elusive fresh water otters that we saw during a walkie last week (and we haven't seen them since!) at our local Civic Center. On Sammie's site, you'll also see me 'helping' my pal check the gopher holes....:)

  11. Sounds like a wonderful weekend for mom (all except for being separated from you Sierra). When we lived in your area, we found a hut in the Sierra mountains, to be rented by one family at a time, that allowed dogs! It was about a 3 mile xc ski into it (and we had to carry our own stuff). But, it was a former fire lookout tower with incredible views (Robb's Hut), and it had propane heating and cooking stoves. It was amazing! We used to go every year at Thanksgiving and once in the spring!

  12. That was wrong that mom didn't bring you with her, especially that beautiful place! Did you chew something up to protest?

  13. What? She left you? Cute faced you? She was out yukking it up and having a good ole time while you were left in charge of the whole place. I know you're glad she's home and I bet she's glad to be there too.

  14. Hi there Sierra,

Too bad you were not able to join your mom for the trip. We're sure she missed you as much as you were thinking of her while we was away.

Great that you were able to have a good weekend too.

  21. Hiya Sierra! I gotta admit, that looked like a super duper little vacation your Mom took without you. Why without you? I dunno-don't ask me to figger out 2 leggers. I do know one thing, I've missed you! I've been really really bad about blog visits. I can't seem to get to visit anymore. I must do better. Anyway, you wanted to know what type of collar I was wearin' in my pic. It's an electronic collar from Dogtra. Mom wasn't crazy about gettin' me one but she now thinks it was a great idea. I know my commands but sometimes my attention is elsewhere and I ignore her and Dad. This has a dial that will give me anything from a vibrate reminder to a "YEE-HAH! Yes Mom what do you want?" kind of jolt. They rarely have to give me that last one anymore 'cuz I know I get one chance to obey and then I get the reminder. It gives me the freedom I need to explore and run as fast as I can so that's why Mom thinks it was a good idea. If you have any other questions, please ask!
I'm sure you'll get to go on more snowy trips so don't worry!
    Woofs and slobbers,
    Chester ;0=)

  22. Sounds like you both had a great time! We were out in Truckee more years ago than I can count on Ruby's paws, including dew claws! Think it's time to take a trip back...

  23. You sure live in and near a land of beauty. Both in the physical world and in the love of your family. That's a couple of reasons we so enjoy coming to read your blog.

We hope your week is going well.

  26. Hi Sierra Rose! I bet your Mom really missed you tons while she was gone. That is a cool old cabin/lodge they were in. I could almost hear the music :)

  27. Sierra, I'm sure she only left you at home because it is hard for dogs to ski, you know, with having 4 feet instead of 2 ;o) Your visitor is interesting. Did you bark at her? I'm pretty sure I would have. Is she gonna hatch her eggs?
