Dawning a 'bluebird' day

It dawned a blue sky, yet chilly day after a fast moving storm came through the Sierra Nevada mountains this past Friday. We timed our drive Friday eve quite well, as the storm had just moved on, winds were calming, and plows were working the roads and passes... Saturday morning was amazingly clear. Let's go to the meadow! This is probably my favorite place to play up here. And, tasty snow too. Winds pluming off a peak. At base was quite calm, but gusty up top for the morning.
I'm not one for the loud avalanche kabooms! We could see the debris from where we were.
Morning snooter sniffing.... Ah, good crispy smells.
I'll just stay here and check things out... The sun was quite bright and warming.
Oh yeah! Play time! Although we didn't get photos, I had some most wonderful times this weekend in the meadow... Mom and dad let me have lots of off-leash play!!! Besides staying on a long line when we x-country ski around, mom has been building her confidence in letting me just PLAY! I'm not going anywhere mom! Met some great pals too. Yeaooo!
Still always up for some ball - hill repeats! Charge!
After a morning of PLAY, and a bit of a x-country ski... I napped in my crate in our camper while mom and dad headed out for some time on the ski hill. Really brisk and gusty at the top. The sun just behind.
Dad and mom touring around the backside ski area.
Some great, yet mellow chutes below the (off-limits) Cirque. But quite a grand area to look at.
We had quite a nice weekend. Season's over end of April, so we'll keep trying to make the weekends.
Wubba Wubba! Have a nice week pals!

  1. Beautiful pictures!!! But I still don't want any more snow here for awhile:) Glad you had such a good time!

  2. Wow Kristin - those are some spectacular photos! Whew - the wind-gusting-snow-plus-skiers-sun - absolutely stunning! And the pix of YOU, Sierra are just terrific too - looks like you had a huge amount of fun with your ball and all the fresh scents up there! Hope to get up there with you maybe one more time this winter! Glad you got up there safely behind the storm!
    Wubbawubby to you too!
    Hugs xo

  3. Your snow is so very beautiful and there is so much of it! We've had rain for 4 days and how we wish it could have been snow!

Woos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  6. woobies!!! snow!!! off leash time!!! sounds like an awesome time.

  7. Great pictures! Most of our storms have been splitting, so we haven't had much snow lately - and warm weather, so Mom and Dad are thinking that after a race in a couple of weeks, it will be time to hang up the skis and start racing cars (actually they are starting to race cars next weekend...) and breaking out the road bikes and the hiking boots! Enjoy the snow!

    *kissey face*

PeeEss: I sent you a peemail - Mom's got a box of goodies for you that she will probably mail this week (I say 'probably' because Mom is a bit, uh, unreliable about running errands...)

  8. Nice photos! We love to come here to get our snow fix since Spring has already sprung in our 'burbs. Sierra looks like she's having an absolute blast -- is there anything more fun for a pup than a snowy meadow? :D

  9. It is amazing to see how much you still have out your way. We are only down to snowbanks. The dogs are not thrilled. :)

  10. Love the snow pics! How ya doin' Sierra?? Haven't heard from you in a while. You're turning into such a beautiful young lady!

  11. Wow, amazing photos! That place looks spectacular (especially with a pretty golden romping around)!

  12. WOW! GREAT PICS! I love them! However, you are more than welcome to keep the snow....

  13. Sierra Rose,

Beautiful pictures! Probably too much snow for me with my little chihuahua legs but my mom would love to go cross country skiing there. You sure looked beautiful in those pictures!

  14. Sierra, you crack me up. I love the pictures of you with snow on your face. I am cold just looking at those pictures. But, the pictures are beautiful,,,frame worthy even!!! Thanks for the chilly tour.

  15. These are just the most incredible pics! We love the blue of the sky, the white of the snow and always the beauty of Sierra.
    love and kisses

  16. Pawesome pictures! That place is so beautiful and I'm glad you're having wonderful times playing in the snow!

  17. You're a very lucky dog - your mom and dad put you FIRST! They don't leave you in your crate until you've had a blast and worked off all your puppy energy. Kudos to mom and dad!

And, off-leash play!!!! You must be growing up. That's the best, isn't it? The deep snow also keeps you close. It didn't look like you could sprint anywhere very fast in that snow!!

Enjoy the snow in the mountains and the spring by the bay!

  18. We like the ariel view of you Sierra, where you appear to be pouncing on your ball :)

  19. Sierra, you go on so many adventures we can barely keep up with you. You are such a furry lucky pooch to have PAWrents that take you wif them everywhere! BTW, we sure miss our snow...sigh. Momma is all happy 'bout seein' the ground but we yike da snow.

  20. Wubba, Wubba, Wubba!
What great, beautiful pix! Especially of you playing! Ha woo!

  21. WOW! Those photos are breathtaking!!!! Hugs Joey and Kealani

  24. The snow looks beautiful, especially with such sunny weather. I can imagine the crisp air! Good job, Sierra Rose, for getting some off-leash time. That means you're coming when called much better now! Hooray for growing up and learning to listen to Mom!!

  25. Everybody had a grrreat time! Yay. And the photos were fabulous. M is smiling dreamily, she misses skiing.

  26. Beautiful photos - we're positive you had a great time.

  27. Sierra - can you please send me some of that snow you have? I don't know where mine went! You sure looked like you had fun! I told my mommy that I need a wubba too. You always have the best things! :-)
    Berner bumps from Scout!

  28. Wow Looks like you had a great weekend! I'm (sorta) jealous - but it's now in the 60's in NYC - no snow - and the blue sky is pretty nice! But I do miss frolicking in the snow - so please take an extra spin for me! - Abbey

  29. Wow! What wonderful pictures! ...although, they make me very cold and glad to be where it is a sunny 74 degrees!

I love hearing from you!
